SWECO's Russian subsidiary Lenvodokanalproekt has received two new orders in north western Russia. The orders are worth EUR 1.6 million in total.

Lenvodokanalproekt has been engaged by the water company in the city of Petrozavodsk to inspect the city's water and sewage treatment system. The order also includes preparing the technical design with proposals for improving the system. Petrozavodsk has approx. 250 000 inhabitants and is in the Karelian Republic in north western Russia.

"There is a great deal of investment in improving the environment and infrastructure in Russia. We can see how new roads and sewage treatment works are developing and how the energy supply is more reliable and society more sustainable," says Per Johansson MD at SWECO Eastern Europe.

The Russian market for consultant services in the field of water and the environment is undergoing strong growth and is currently valued at approx. EUR 160 million per annum. While SWECO is continuing to receive new orders in eastern and central Europe, the number of staff has been increased tenfold in one year.

"We are expanding rapidly in the east. New challenging assignments must be matched by the right consultants. In recent years we have grown from 80 to 800 employees in central and eastern Europe," says Per Johansson.

Today SWECO is established in Scandinavia as well as in Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
